Victorian Roadmap Updates
The recent further easing of restrictions in Victoria has been welcome news for many of our members employed in industries such as the retail and hospitality sectors. Many of our members have had their regular income significantly impacted and we all need to be mindful of the challenges that has presented. The easing of restrictions has also meant that members involved in the regular positive ageing lunches are welcoming the chance to put their iPads down and disconnect from Zoom to plan to meet for lunch in person in the coming weeks at the likes of the Malvernvale Hotel. It will no doubt be a welcome change to share a meal together. Having said that, I very much enjoyed the laughter shared on the Goldies Zoom drinks last Saturday night! One benefit of online drinks is not needing to stay under 0.05 but it sometimes seemed that Goldies dexterity with operating an iPad can also be adversely affected with increasing drinks consumption!!
Keeping Each Other Safe
LSC&PH is currently drafting our COVID Vaccination Policy for staff, members and program participants. As has been the case throughout the pandemic, we are again accessing health and legal advice to assist us in ensuring that our decisions are well informed. We will bring you an update on this in the coming fortnight.
Venturing Beyond Our 15km Limits
I mentioned last week that I was looking forward to moving beyond my 15km zone. I decided to take a long walk with coffee in hand along one of my favourite beaches! The stormy weather was quite appropriate given recent references to the hope filled signs that the COVID storm which had disrupted so much is passing in Victoria. The drive down to Somers and the familiar walk along the creek, over the bridge and along beach was a reminder of our rich, shared sense of belonging to that special piece of precious land by the sea.
Until next week, stay well and stay connected.
