One Month Until Christmas!
Reconnecting and Rebalancing
It has been great to hear of improving situations for many of our members who have been so adversely affected by Victoria’s various COVID lockdowns. This includes members who have been able to reopen their small businesses or return to their jobs in areas like retail, travel, the arts and hospitality. Some are having postponed elective surgeries rescheduled and others are enjoying finally being able to reconnect with family who have been beyond travel borders. Every member will know another member who has been adversely affected so we all feel their relief with and for them as Victoria gradually reconnects and rebalances.
Big Camps 2022
Thank you to those who have thrown their support into nominating and/or sponsoring Groupers. Also to those who have responded to call outs for leadership roles that arose due to the rescheduling. Let’s throw all of our traditional Somers spirit, ingenuity and support behind John, Georgie, Cath, Wok and our office staff as they plan for our first ever Big Camps held outside of January.
Support Tommy Quick
Some of you will have heard that one of our much loved members, Tommy Quick is recovering in an Adelaide hospital after he and his recumbent trike tangled with a car leaving him with a broken pelvis and leg. Tommy was cycling across Australia to raise money for stroke support services. Since first attending Camp Diversity in 2012, Tommy has been a “Somers Frequent Flyer” attending numerous community camps, Big Camp, Community Outreach Initiative and MAX. We know how strong willed he is so we know he will overcome this unexpected challenge too.
Several members have already sent messages of support to Tommy and you can join them via his Facebook page The Four Points Australia: https://www.facebook.com/4PointsAustralia
You can also show your support by donating to his Stroke Foundation fundraising page: 4points
We all wish the inspirational Tommy a very speedy recovery.
A Shout Out to the Compassionate Men of Somers
Speaking of inspiring men, last Friday, November 19 was International Men’s Day. It marks a point in the calendar for individuals, communities and organisations to celebrate the positive and diverse male role models in our lives and the contributions they make to their communities. In LSC&PH we have many, many such positive male role models who contribute to our community with great kindness and compassion and in their selfless commitment to serve others. So we extend a shout of encouragement and appreciation to each of you. We hope you know who you are and how much we all appreciate the diversity and care that you weave into our LSC&PH family.
In closing… I’ve been on to Cvent and arranged my long awaited Panto screening. Have you?
Until next week,
