Further Easing of Restrictions
Today’s news of further easing of restrictions is welcome reassurance to those planning LSC&PH activities for 2022. The PandA Committee leaders and staff engaged in COVID Safe planning for reconnection activities for the Slush and members to engage in community service, fun and fellowship in the coming months were particularly grateful that restrictions are easing. The removal of density limits means that capacity of events can also be rethought. The first camps to return to Somers in 2022 will be Goldies (Feb. 11 -13) and Oldies (Feb. 18-20) and planning is already well underway for those two camps which will be great practice for all regarding COVID Safe practices for the Slush weekends and Big Camps that follow closely thereafter.
Seeking, Finding & Reconnecting
Various small groups of members are continuing to enjoy being able to reconnect in person and support our hospitality industry. The monthly positive ageing lunches on the third Tuesday of every month have returned to the bistro at the Malvernvale Hotel this week and the monthly Olds and Bolds also enjoyed dining there for lunch last Friday. In a less formal reconnection effort, I believe that a carload of four of our wisest women of Somers headed up the Western Highway today for lunch with Jenny Reidel in Bunninyong. Given previous ‘unscheduled cross country adventures’ during efforts to return to Melbourne from similar such day trips, it is believed that the search and rescue helicopters were on standby!
He’s Behind You!
Some members will have noticed on Instagram that the swashbuckling cast and crew of the Panto spent a busy weekend performing and recording the Pirates of the Pantomime. Stay tuned for news of a ticketed screening at Power House of this blockbuster. We look forward to seeing the script writers, Emma Davies and Maree Williams and the stars of the show on the Albert Park red carpet in early December. For those who might miss out on tickets, there will still be a chance to enjoy the performance via online streaming so we can all get our popcorn ready!
Until next week,
